Woodknowledge Wales and its members work to advance sustainable forestry, timber, and regenerative construction practices in Wales. WKW is an independent for-public-good Community Benefits Society, governed by a voluntary board.
Wales has the potential for substantial expansion of forestry and its wood using industries. Well-conceived forestry provides amenity, mitigates climate change, is good for biodiversity and soil health and helps clean air and water.
The activities of WKW bring together stakeholders at different levels of industry and society to make visible existing gaps in the supply chain, evaluate the potential and develop solutions in a collaborative manner. The organisation works with other sector bodies and NGOs in forestry, manufacturing and construction where missions overlap, taking a unique approach that is configured to address the systemic barriers to change.
